Mariano is a respiratory therapist and Allegra is a nursing student.  They are trying to raise their teenage son and hoping he comes out sane, intelligent, socially aware and happy.

Mariano is quick witted and Allegra is quick to laugh. They both love learning and traveling and social justice issues.
